Big Tree Inspires Eco-Awareness With a Fun Upcycling Initiative at Yayasan Chow Kit

On the 1st of June, Big Tree held a heartwarming CSR event, “From Billboards to Backpacks,” at Yayasan Chow Kit, a non-profit organisation that caters to the needs of underprivileged children in and around Chow Kit, where 40 children learned the value of recycling and upcycling through a series of fun games and an interactive sustainability talk by Mereka Innovative Education.

“We wanted to create a memorable experience for the children of Yayasan Chow Kit while raising awareness about the importance of upcycling. It’s one of the smallest ways we can give back to our community, and we hope to do more as we continue to advance our sustainability efforts,” shared Big Tree Chief Operating Officer, Stephanie Wong.

The main highlight of the CSR event was the colouring and personalisation of pencil cases made out of Big Tree’s upcycled billboard vinyl. This initiative not only reflected Big Tree’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and community empowerment but it also showed that upcycling can be a fun activity!
