BIG TREE FOSTERS HEARTFELT CONNECTIONS ON DIGITAL OUT-OF-HOME (DOOH) IN KLANG VALLEY THROUGH ITS NEWLY LAUNCHED “APA KHABAR?” CSR CAMPAIGN IN SUPPORT OF MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS
KUALA LUMPUR, 1 September 2023 – Big Tree, Malaysia’s leading Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising solutions provider and a subsidiary o f Media Prima Berhad, is proud to announce the launch of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign dubbed “Apa Khabar?” or #ApaKhabarBigTree that aims to encourage meaningful connections among the Malaysian public through means of OOH in support of mental health awareness.
As the campaign name suggests, “Apa Khabar?” or “How are you?” when translated into English, Big Tree aims to leverage on the power and influence of OOH to remind Malaysians to check in on their loved ones while giving them an opportunity to spread their positive messages and be seen on the streets of Kuala Lumpur. Most importantly, by addressing the narrative in a public setting and on high-traffic areas throughout Klang Valley, this campaign wishes to erase the negative stigma that follows the topic surrounding mental health issues.
The National Health and Morbidity Survey in Malaysia has found that 1 in 3 citizens suffers from mental health problems. As mental health is crucial to personal, community and socio-economic development, Big Tree recognises that this social issue should be given light and hope through concerted and mindful initiatives.
“Meaningful conversations often happen in a personal setting — people don’t usually think of mass-targeted platforms such as Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) when they think of sending a personalised message to someone. However, initiating the first step to check in on someone is not something that you do often. And more often than not, when it involves a more delicate topic such as mental health, people are not comfortable admitting that they are not feeling or doing their best.
“We hope that by displaying positive messages on our large digital screens and asking everybody “Apa Khabar?” every day throughout our campaign period, we encourage people to visit or check in on their parents, call their friends or uplift their family members — in whatever way they seem fit to spread positivity and reach out to loved ones,” said Big Tree Chief Operating Officer, Stephanie Wong.
This CSR campaign offers Malaysians a chance to be featured on Big Tree's DOOH screens and to be a positive figure by displaying an uplifting message and photo of themselves across Klang Valley.
By taking part in the contest, selected 12 winners will receive attractive prizes that include a feature on Big Tree’s DOOH screens between the 10th of October to the 31st of October, a WOWSHOP e-voucher worth RM50 and two free sessions with a mental health specialist that can be utilised either by the winner or to be gifted to a loved one.
The entry submission is open from the 1st to the 17th of September 2023.
